Age Criteria
- Retired Technical Officer/Retired Range Officer: Should not be more than 65 years on the date of advertisement
- Senior Research Fellow/Senior Project Fellow: Upper age limit of 32 years as on 01.06.2026
- Junior Project Fellow: Upper age limit of 28 years as on 01.06.2026
- Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST, Women, Physically Handicapped, and OBC candidates
The notification does not specify a separate age limit for Project Assistant and Field Assistant posts.

Documents Required for Walk-in Interview
Candidates must carry the following documents at the time of registration:
- Copy of updated bio-data
- Recent passport size photograph
- Self-attested copies of all educational certificates
- Self-attested copies of all relevant/experience documents
- For the RTO/ RRO post only: Last Pay Certificate (LPC) and recent Pension Slip, is additional document to the above documents
Candidates who are already employed must bring a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their current/last institute.
Selection Process
Selection will be made through a walk-in interview. There is no written exam mentioned in the notification. Candidates need to register between 9:00 AM and 10:15 AM on their respective interview date and submit their documents to the office of the Group Coordinator (Research), P.O. New Forest, FRI, Dehradun, for verification and interview.
How to Attend the Walk-in Interview
- Check the post-wise eligibility criteria and select the relevant post and date (28 or 29 July 2026).
- Prepare bio-data, a recent passport-size photograph, and self-attested copies of all educational and experience certificates (plus LPC and Pension Slip for RTO/RRO applicants).
- Reach the Board Room, FRI Main Building, P.O. New Forest, Dehradun - 248006, between 9:00 AM and 10:15 AM on the applicable interview date.
- Complete registration and submit documents to the office of the Group Coordinator (Research).
- Attend the walk-in interview on the same day.
Important Instructions/ General Conditions
- Award of the fellowship is governed by the rules of Indian council of Forestry Research & Education (ICFRE) Dehradun, and do not guarantee subsequent employment in any institute under the Council.
- Candidate who has already completed 4 years as SRF/SPF/JRF/JPF will not be considered for the JRF/JPF/SRF/SPF posts again.
- Ph.D. period and teaching experience will not be counted as research experience.
- Candidates already employed must bring an NOC from their last/current institute.
- The Director, Forest Research Institute, reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of positions, or not to recruit against any notified post, without prior notice.
- The advertisement is published in both Hindi and English; in case of any discrepancy, the English version will be treated as the standard text.
- No separate interview call letter will be issued, and no TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
