UTET 2026 Notification: Uttarakhand Teacher Eligibility Test Application, Dates, Eligibility & Syllabus

Uttarakhand Board of School Education Uttarakhand, Ramnagar, Nainital has released the notification for the Uttarakhand Teacher Eligibility Test 2026 i.e. UTET-I & II 2026.

The test will be conducted in two levels -

1. UTET-I for candidates seeking eligibility for teaching in primary classes (I to V).
2. UTET-II for candidates seeking eligibility to teach upper primary classes (VI to VIII).

Submission of online applications has been started from 14 July 2026. The examination is proposed to be held on 29 September 2026.

UTET 2026 Exam Pattern and Marking Criteria

UTET is a multiple-choice, OMR-based test. Each correct answer carries 1 mark. A blank, incorrectly marked, or multiple-marked response gets zero marks. There is no negative marking for wrong answers. Question papers (other than language papers) are printed bilingually in Hindi and English.

UTET-I Paper Pattern (Primary Level, Classes I-V)

UTET-II Paper Pattern (Upper Primary Level, Classes VI-VIII)

• Candidates must choose their First Language (medium of instruction) as either Hindi or English; the First Language paper will be of a higher level than the Second Language paper.
• The Second Language must be chosen from Hindi, English, Sanskrit, or Urdu, and must be different from the First Language.
• For UTET-II, candidates must choose either Mathematics & Science or Social Studies as their subject.

UTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification for UTET-I (Primary Level, Classes I-V)

A candidate must meet one of the following:

• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed/BTC), passed or currently in training/enrolled.
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks AND a 2-year D.El.Ed/BTC obtained as per NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations, 2002, passed or currently in training/enrolled.
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), passed or currently in training/enrolled.
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), passed or currently in training/enrolled.
• Graduation (or equivalent) AND a 2-year D.El.Ed/BTC, passed or in the final year of training/enrolled.
• Shiksha Mitras working on honorarium in government primary schools who have completed the 2-year D.El.Ed training from IGNOU with state government permission.
• In-service teachers regularly appointed as Assistant Teacher/Headmaster (Primary) or Assistant Teacher/Headmaster (Upper Primary) in any UDISE-coded school teaching Classes 1-5.

Minimum Qualification for UTET-II (Upper Primary Level, Classes VI-VIII)

A candidate must meet one of the following:

• Graduation (or equivalent) AND a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (BTC/D.El.Ed), passed.
• Graduation (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed/L.T./Shiksha Shastri, institutional mode only), passed or in training/enrolled.
• Graduation (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks AND a 1-year B.Ed/L.T./Shiksha Shastri (institutional mode only), obtained per applicable NCTE regulations, passed or in training/enrolled.
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a 4-year B.El.Ed, passed or in training/enrolled.
• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a 4-year B.A./B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed, passed or in training/enrolled.
• Graduation (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND a B.Ed (Special Education) recognized by RCI, passed or in training/enrolled.
• Graduation or Post-Graduation with at least 50% marks AND B.Ed, passed - the minimum-percentage-at-graduation condition does not apply to those who had already taken admission to a B.Ed/B.El.Ed or equivalent course before 29 July 2011.
• In-service teachers regularly appointed as Assistant Teacher/Headmaster or Assistant Teacher (L.T. Grade) in any UDISE-coded school teaching Classes 6-8.

Common Eligibility Notes (Both Levels)

• Candidates currently undergoing a 1-year degree training course, or enrolled/admitted in a 2-year degree/diploma training course or a 4-year degree training course, are also eligible to apply for UTET 2026.
• All educational degrees must be from a university established by law in India or a recognized board; training/teaching degrees must be from NCTE-recognized institutions (obtained or being pursued).
• A 5% relaxation in graduation-level marks is given to candidates from reserved categories - Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Classes, and differently-abled (Divyang) candidates.
• Candidates admitted to a 2-year degree/diploma training course or a 4-year degree training course, or currently pursuing/enrolled in one, will be given provisional admission to the exam. Their UTET certificate is valid only once they pass that qualifying course.
• There is no separate age limit specified in this notification for UTET candidates.

UTET 2026 Minimum Qualifying Marks

Qualifying UTET does not by itself confer any right or claim to appointment - it is only one of the mandatory eligibility criteria. Actual recruitment/selection of teachers is carried out under the relevant State Government teacher service rules and prevailing instructions issued from time to time.

UTET 2026 Application Fee

• Fee must be paid online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI. No other payment mode is accepted.
• Fee once submitted is non-refundable under any circumstances.
• Fee must be paid by 6 August 2026, 11:59 PM. Applications for which the fee is not paid by this date/time are automatically rejected.
• If a candidate's fee gets deducted more than once due to a technical or user error, the candidate is personally responsible and the amount will not be refunded in any case.

UTET 2026 Exam Centres

The written exam will be held at 29 cities across the state's 13 districts. Candidates must give two city preferences in order of priority in the online application; once a centre is allotted, no request for change is entertained. If fewer than 100 candidates opt for a particular exam city, that city will not be made an exam centre, and such candidates will be allotted their second-preference city or the nearest possible city instead. No travelling allowance is payable to candidates for appearing in the exam.

Documents Required on Exam Day

• Downloaded admit card (compulsory - no candidate will be allowed into the exam without it; sent only via the Board's website, not by post)
• One original photo ID proof, matching what was entered in the online application: Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence, Voter ID, Passport, or PAN Card
• A black or blue ball-point pen
• If the admit card photo is missing or unclear, the candidate must additionally carry two recent passport-size photographs and their Aadhaar card

Calculators, log tables, mobile phones, pagers, digital watches, and any other electronic gadgets, as well as printed or handwritten material and loose paper, are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall. Candidates found using unfair means will have their candidature cancelled and may face legal action.

How to Apply for UTET 2026 Online

1. Visit the official website www.ukutet.com and download the Information Brochure to review all instructions and eligibility codes before applying.
2. Click "New Applicant? (Click here)" to register. Read the terms and conditions, tick the acceptance box, and click "Proceed to Registration."
3. Enter your name, father's name, mobile number, and email ID to complete registration. Only one application is accepted per mobile number and email ID.
4. Verify the OTP sent to your mobile/email. On successful verification, a Registration Number and password will be sent to your email/mobile.
5. Log in using the Registration Number and password, then click "Apply for UTET 2026."
6. Fill in the Application Form (Step 1) with all mandatory details - exam level (UTET-I, UTET-II, or Both), gender, date of birth, mother's/husband's name, home district, category, sub-category, disability status (if any), scribe requirement (if any), first and second language choices, subject choice (for UTET-II), training eligibility and code, exam city preferences, correspondence address, and identity proof details.
7. Upload photo, signature, and left-hand thumb impression (Step 2) as per the specified file size and pixel dimensions given in the brochure.
8. Preview your application (Step 3), verify every field carefully, accept the declaration, and lock the form. No changes are possible after this step.
9. Pay the application fee (Step 4) through Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
10. Print your completed application (Step 5) and keep the printout, along with the fee payment receipt, safely for future reference.

Only online applications are accepted; applications submitted through any other mode will not be entertained. Candidates are advised to apply well before the last date rather than waiting until the deadline.

UTET 2026: Facility for Scribe (Divyang/PWD Candidates)

• Candidates with Blindness, Locomotor Disability, or Cerebral Palsy, and other candidates whose reading/writing ability is affected in special circumstances, may be permitted to use a scribe.
• The scribe must be arranged by the candidate. The scribe's highest educational qualification must be at least 2 academic years lower and not more than 3 academic years lower than the mandatory qualification for the exam - broadly, no lower than Intermediate level and no higher than first-year graduation level.
• Eligible candidates get 20 minutes of compensatory time per hour of examination. This extra time also applies to blind/low-vision and other differently-abled candidates whose writing speed is permanently affected, whether or not they use a scribe.
• Required documents (Appendix 5(I), 5(II), and Appendix 6 formats, the scribe's highest qualification certificate, and two passport photos of the scribe) must be submitted to the Board office at least 15 days before the exam date.
• Differently-abled candidates will be seated in a ground-floor examination room at the exam centre.

UTET 2026: Answer Key, Result and Re-evaluation

• After the exam, the Board publishes a Provisional Answer Key on its website. Objections to the provisional key can be submitted only via email mentioned in notification, in the prescribed format, within the specified window, with one objection submitted separately per question.
• Objections without proof, or submitted after the deadline, or combining multiple questions into a single representation, will not be considered.
• After expert review, a Final Answer Key is prepared and published; evaluation is based solely on this final key. No further claims/objections against the final key are entertained.
• OMR answer sheets are evaluated by machine scanning, so no provision exists for re-checking or re-counting of OMR sheets; no application for re-evaluation/re-counting will be accepted.
• The result declaration date is not specified in this notification - the Board states it will be declared "within a prescribed period" after OMR evaluation, on www.ubse.uk.gov.in and www.ukutet.com, with an announcement through newspapers.
• All successful candidates receive a certificate-cum-marksheet by registered post, showing name, parent's/spouse's name, date of birth, registration number, training qualification, and subject-wise marks.

UTET 2026: Validity, Number of Attempts and Applicability

• The UTET certificate is valid for a lifetime.
• A candidate may appear for UTET any number of times, including to improve a score after already qualifying.
• Candidates who have qualified the central-level CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) are also eligible for teacher appointment in all types of schools in Uttarakhand; for reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) and differently-abled candidates, CTET qualifying marks are treated as equivalent to UTET qualifying marks.
• Candidates who qualify the state-level UTET are eligible for appointment in schools within Uttarakhand that are run by, aided by, or recognized by the state government, or affiliated to any national education board, and which have received a No Objection Certificate from the state government, subject to meeting other prescribed eligibility conditions.
• TET certificates issued by other states are NOT valid for teacher appointment in Uttarakhand.

Important Instructions for UTET 2026 Candidates

• Candidates must confirm they satisfy all eligibility criteria for UTET-I, UTET-II, or both, before applying.
• Any correction to the submitted application is possible only during the correction window, 8 to 11 August 2026; no correction requests are accepted before or after this window, including after the exam or after the result.
• Providing incorrect information regarding reservation category, sub-category, marks, or qualification code makes the candidate solely responsible, and can lead to cancellation of candidature/result plus legal action.
• Educational and training qualifications must be completed before the date of application; qualifications acquired after applying will not be considered.
• The Board does not verify the details filled in by candidates in the online application; verification of qualification is done by the appointing authority only at the time of actual recruitment.
• Candidates should preserve their Registration Number/ID and roll number for all future correspondence with the Board.
• Candidates must enter their personal mobile number in the application so that important updates can be sent via SMS.
• Any change to proposed exam dates/schedules will be communicated through newspapers and the official website.
• Candidates must follow all prevailing COVID-19 safety guidelines at the exam centre, if applicable at the time.
• Any dispute relating to UTET 2026 falls under the jurisdiction of the courts at Ramnagar (Nainital).

UTET 2026: Duplicate Certificate

Candidates whose certificate-cum-marksheet is lost, damaged, or contains a clerical/spelling error in the name, can obtain a duplicate copy by submitting a prescribed application, a self-attested copy of the High School certificate, an affidavit on ₹10 stamp paper, the original damaged certificate (if applicable), a bank draft of ₹150 payable to the Secretary, Uttarakhand Vidyalayi Shiksha Parishad at the Ramnagar branch, and (in case of a lost certificate) a copy of the newspaper notice published about the loss. No correction is permitted to the candidate's photo, category/sub-category, or the training qualification on which the candidate appeared for the exam.
