NIT Uttarakhand allows entry at multiple academic milestones—from fresh B.E./B.Tech graduates to experienced postdoctoral researchers.

1. Project Associate I

• Required Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Biomedical Engineering, or allied disciplines.
• Experience: Fresh graduates are welcome; prior lab work is advantageous.

2. Project Associate II

• Option A: B.E. / B.Tech in ECE, CSE, EEE, Biomedical Engineering, or allied areas paired with at least 2 years of active R&D experience in industry or academic institutions.
• Option B: M.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. in ECE, Biomedical Engineering, Digital Signal Processing, Signal Processing, or allied branches with a First Class academic record throughout both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

3. Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

• Essential Qualification: M.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. in ECE, Biomedical Engineering, Digital Signal Processing, or allied domains with First Class at both B.Tech and M.Tech stages.
• Mandatory National Examination: A valid score in GATE, CSIR-JRF, or UGC NET-JRF.

4. Research Associate (Cadres I, II, and III)

• Qualification:
  • Ph.D. in Microelectronics & VLSI Design or Signal Processing; OR
  • M.E. / M.Tech with 3 years of research/industrial experience alongside at least one published paper in an SCI / SCIE indexed journal.
• Core Technical Specialization (Required for RA-I): Hands-on experience in the Design and Development of Instrumentation Amplifiers for EEG Signal Acquisition, or FPGA Implementation of EEG Signal Processing, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning Algorithms.

Age Criteria & Statutory Relaxations

The baseline upper age limit is 35 years across all posts (calculated as of the interview date). Upper age concessions are granted to SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), PwD, and female researchers in accordance with Government of India and funding agency guidelines.

Monthly Fellowship & Stipend Breakdown

All positions receive additional House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per institute rules if on-campus housing is not provided:

Selection Protocol: Direct Walk-In Interview

There is no computer-based preliminary screening test. Candidate selection relies entirely on credentials and direct evaluation by the expert selection committee:

• Stage 1: Document Verification: Cross-examination of mark sheets, national exam cards (GATE/NET), indexed publication reprints, and project dissertations.
• Stage 2: Technical Interview: An assessment covering foundational electronics/computing fundamentals, hardware description languages (Verilog/VHDL for FPGA roles), biomedical circuit topologies, and candidate research aptitude.

Walk-In Checklist: What to Bring on 30 September 2026

To avoid disqualification during initial physical screening at the campus, prepare the following dossier:
